How to Wear: Stripes

Ladies, stripes are all year round fashion, they key is to wear the kind of stripes that flatter! Here is a key to how to wearing stripes based on your body’s shape:

Apple: Vertical stripes are your friend! They elongate your shape and darker stripes with contrasting colors adds more depth to your body. If you want a less heavy look wear thin stripes instead.

Hourglass: You can do no wrong when it comes to stripes! Just ensure your stripes are going in the same direction for a clean look.

Botticelli: Wear diagonal stripes in order to flatter your hourglass figure. And if you really want to accentuate a certain area where you love your curves do so by wearing horizontal stripes around that area.

Pear: Focus creating stripes on the upper body! With thick stripes on top your shoulders will appear broader and thinner. And to make your hips and butt look slimmer wear vertical stripes on the bottom.

Petite: Where horizontal stripes give you a flat look, vertical stripes give you height even without heels.

Slender: To give yourself an hourglass figure go for thick horizontal stripes in the the places you want to look curvy. Possibly wear a horizontal stripe shirt and use a thick belt. Use a combo of different kinds of stripes for instant curviness!

Mixing Prints

Mixing prints

It’s a struggle mixing in prints in your outfit. Suppose you fall in love with an absolutely adorable printed piece at Lucky B. You want to try on the piece, but at the same time, you’re hesitant to. You’re unsure how to coordinate it with the clothes in your closet! Worry not ladies. Here are some tips on mixing your favorite prints, so you can enjoy more outfit options!

Bold x Small
Not small x small or large x large. Try mixing bold prints with small prints. The danger of mixing bold prints together (or small prints together) is that it takes away the essence of a standout piece. Bold x Small compliments each other, without overpowering neither piece.

Match colors
When in doubt what to mix and match, focus on the colors. Similar colors or complimentary colored pieces are recommended to match. Just have some fun with your favorite colors!
Mixing pastels like light blue and baby pink are great, because they can make a statement while not being overpowering. On the other hand, the combination of black and white is a staple for prints, with a classy feel. Black and white also act as a neutral for prints, so it’s a go to when you’re unsure of what to match.

Bring some solid colors
If layering many prints start to overwhelm you, just replace a printed piece of clothing or accessory with a solid color piece. Layering in a solid color will tone down your outfit, calming the overall look.
Let’s say you are planning on wearing your favorite pair of Tropical Abstract Pom Shorts from Lucky B with a white and navy bold stripped blazer. You can pair this outfit with a simple white V-neck T-shirt, and an elegant navy clutch purse, to keep your style classy and full of color.

Try mix and matching whatever is most comfortable for you. Lucky B has many fun printed pieces in store and online!

Finding the Perfect Maxi Dress

Finding the Perfect Maxi Dress

The bright sunny weather of summer is right around the corner, and it’s the perfect time for dresses. Maxi’s are comfy and beautiful, but sometimes it’s a struggle finding the perfect one that really flatters your body.
Here is some advice for all body types, particularly for petites and plus size women.

Petites

If you’re short, like me, you might be hesitant about trying on maxi dresses, because you’re pretty sure a maxi dress will make you look even shorter… Despite that, with some of these tips below, you can rock a maxi style.

Length
Remember to pick a dress that’s no longer than your ankles. Anything longer can overwhelm your body, looking like you’re buried in your dress. Besides, it’s harder to walk with a long hem, unless you wear heals.

Fit
Pick a fitted dress over a loose one. A flowy maxi is elegant and stunning, but it can make you look wider than you really are. A fitted dress with a defined waist line is the most flattering for a petite body type.

Neckline
V-neck lines are great for someone who is petite, since allows the eyes to draw attention to your upper body. On the other hand, strapless or spaghetti straps are less ideal, since it can make the upper body look wider, providing a short and boxy look.

Color
Solid colors have a slimming effect, which makes a petite look taller. Don’t be afraid to try prints though! Tiny prints are preferable compared to larger options as to not overwhelm the frame.

Plus Size
Fit
Similar to petites, it’s better to wear fitted dresses over a flowy maxi dress. Maxi dresses with undefined lines can look shapeless so be sure to find a dress with a fitted or adjustable tie at the waist to define those beautiful curves.

Neckline
Wide straps are recommended, since it flatters the body by making the width of your shoulders look narrower. Also, large straps can provide that extra support if you’re busty. However, try to avoid spaghetti straps, since a body frame tends to look squared without lines.

Color
Again, solid colors are ideal for a maxi dress, since it has a slimming effect. Also, have some fun with bold prints! Bold prints draw the focus away from any imperfections and have an overall flattering affect on all body types.

Accessorize
Accessories are also great because you can mix up your basics and get more looks out of a smaller clothing collection! Having a statement neckless can focus the eyes on the upper body (just like V-necks or large straps). Adding a belt around your waist defines the body line, allowing you to show off the curves that you have.

Maxi dresses are now available in store and at luckybboutique.com
Come stope by and pick your favorite dress to wear on a bright sunny weather!

All About Nails!

 All About Nails!
Fashion starts from your fingertips. Just having your favorite nail polish can brighten your day and make you happy! (well, at least for me)

But…don’t want to spend your hard-earned money on a mani or pedi? Well, here are some secret tips to have amazing nails without having to go to the salon!

Masking Tape
Masking tape’s a great tool to use when creating abstract designs or french nails. You can simply put a piece of tape over your finger and paint nail polish over it. Here are some unique design ideas using masking tape.

  1.  Fold a piece of masking tape in to half

  2.  Cut out half a heart

  3.  Unfold the heart, and apply it on your nail

  4.  Apply a coat of nail polish

  5.  After the nail dries, gently remove the heart from your nail using a tweezer

  6.  Trace the outside of the heart with a darker shade of manicure using a toothpick

  7.  You’ll have girly nails like the photo on the left!

1.  Select your favorite masking tape

2.  Cut two large rectangles and two small squares

3.  Cut out two large square sheer matte masking tape

4.  Apply the two colored masking tape so that the corner tips are touching

5.  Apply the sheer square masking tape on the middle of your finger

6.  Apply a coat of top coat

7.  Enjoy your vivid color nails like the photo on the right!

   1.  Cut out a square piece of tape

   2.  Apply super glue on the surface of the piece of tape from step 1

   3.  Using a pair of tweezers, carefully lay down your choice of beads

   4.  After the beads dry, lay the tape on your nails

   5.  Apply top coat

If you don’t have any masking tape available, you can create your own “masking tape” by painting nail polish on the surface of a piece of tape, and cutting out desired shapes.

Here are a couple of secret tips to make your nail painting at home a little more easier!

 Quick Dry
No more hassle drying your nails by blowing on your nails hard! After you apply nail polish, let your fingers dry for about 2~3 minutes. Then soak your fingers into a bowl of ice water for about 3 minutes.

Matte Nail Polish
Oh no… Wanting matte nails but don't have any coast? Try mixing a pinch of cornstarch with a clear top coat. This will provide the same finish as matte nail polish!

Removing Nail Polish
Here's another way to utilize your empty mason jars!

   1.  Squeeze two rectangular sponges in an empty jar.

   2.  Make sure there’s enough room to stick a finger in!

   3.  Soak the sponges with nail polish remover.

Whenever you want to remove nail polish, just put your finger in the jar!

Baby Powder Magic!

Baby Powder Magic!
For those who are troubled by acne or oily skin, baby powder is like magic for your skin! With these two easy steps, your skin will be flawless.

Step 1. Cleansing
After removing your makeup, try adding a teaspoon of baby powder to your everyday facial wash. Add warm water and make the soap foamy, then apply the foam to your skin and scrub gently. After this, rinse off the foam with cool~cold water.

Step 2. Milk & Baby Powder Facial
After washing your face, apply this DIY facial mask that will help reduce redness and make your skin smooth. You’ll only need two ingredients, milk and baby powder, to create this perfect facial recipe.
Add two table spoons of baby powder to little over a 1/2 cup of milk, and mix these two ingredients together. Tadah! How easy was that? Now just apply this freshly made paste to your face, and leave it on for about 10~15 minutes. Before the paste starts to dry, remove it by rinsing gently cool water.

Have your own spa day at home!

~Other Useful Tips Using Baby Powder~
  • Set your makeup. Just apply baby powder on your face with a puff, after putting your foundation for longer-lasting results.
  • Use baby powder after applying moisturizer to your skin to prevent stickiness when you’re trying to get a pair of jeans on in the morning.
  • Use baby powder as dry shampoo. Do you have one of those days where you’re just not up to washing your hair? Baby powder will temporarily absorb oil making your latest blowout last another 24 hours.
  • Make your lashes fuller with baby powder following these three easy steps:
    1. Apply your usual mascara
    2. Before the mascara dries, apply baby powder on your lashes using a Q-tip
    3. Apply a second coat of mascara

Denim-on-Denim

Denim-on-Denim

Chambray (a fancy way to refer to your favorite jeans material) is a staple in every girls of warm weather wardrobe for 2015.

In the past year or so many fashionistas have incorporated denim-on-denim into their weekly looks, using a variety of light and dark shades! This style might seem difficult to mimic, (thoughts of a certain Brittney & Justin ensemble come to mind) but adding even the slightest hint of denim to your outfit will add edge to your style.

You can find denim items in any form from jeans to skirts, shirts, jackets, and dresses. It pairs nicely with materials like leather and suede; have some fun mix and match to find your own style!

~Here are some cute ways to style up with denim~
